Pakistani Christians living in the Netherlands will come together on 5th August 2017 at Staphorst to remember the incident of Christian Colony Gojra City, Pakistan. In August 2009 thousands of extremists attacked and destroyed hundreds of homes, schools, churches and burnt alive 8 men, women & children hidden in a room. Two days before the attack on Gojra a Christian man Talib Masih and his son Imran Masih from nearby Korian Village were accused of desecrating The Quran. Christians of Korian Village as well as the family of Talib Masih fled for the fear of life. In reaction to it, the extremists of banned organization, Sipah-e-Sahaba (Now Lashkar-e-Jhangwi) attacked and raised hell in Gojra.
Talib Masih kept on hiding at differnet locations in Pakistan before seeking asylum in Thailand. His initial request was rejected by UNHCR Thailand due to lack of evidence. It was only after a long struggle of Jubilee Campaign USA & the Netherlands and of Pakistan Christian Political Foundation that he was granted Asylum in April 2017.
Lets pray that religious tolerance may prevail and the people of Pakistan may live in peace and harmony.
The memorial Service is being organised by Pastor William Peghani with Pastor Johan Van OOsten at Gemeente Wij Zijn Empower, Staphorst.
